The Importance of Being Fancy is a children’s picture book which follows a gender ambiguous narrator through a validating story of empowerment to unapologetically be who you are. The narrator encourages readers to express themselves in a way that feels authentically fancy; whether it be wearing socks on the outside of your pants, using big words, decorating their wheels and more. In writing and illustrating this book, I aim to help all children confidently explore and express their individuality.
